Recycling for Electronics, Fluorescents and Household Batteries

Electronics, fluorescent tubes, compact fluorescents and household batteries are considered hazardous waste, and CANNOT be disposed of in the trash.

When disposed of improperly, these products can pollute our land and waterways with heavy metals, such as zinc, mercury and cadmium.

In Novato there are several locations to safely recycle and dispose of these products.

Electronics Recycling

HOUSEHOLD E-WASTE DROP OFF EVENTS
Novato conducts E-Waste recycling events twice a year in the spring and the fall.  Watch for a special mailer regarding dates and times.

Fluorescents and Household Battery Recycling

Fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescents contain mercury vapor,
an acutely toxic material, and cannot be disposed of in the trash.

Household batteries contain heavy metals
such as zinc, cadmium and lead.

Tape ends of all NON alkaline batteries with electrical or duct tape
to prevent shorting before disposal.

Keep fluorescents and household batteries separate
to prevent breakage, and recycle at the following locations:
