Water Education
Novato Sanitary District collaborates with neighboring agencies to sponsor and support a variety of innovative programs to help educate children about wastewater treatment and how individuals can help us protect the environment.
Mercury Thermometer exchange program
Public will receive free digital thermometers to replace old ones. As part of its pollution prevention efforts the Novato Sanitary District will conduct a free mercury thermometer exchange program. Mercury thermometers will be exchanged free of charge at the district office at 500 Davidson St.
The intent of the program is to help prevent toxic waste that poses a threat to public health and the environment from entering the wastewater and storm water flows. The public is invited to bring old mercury thermometers that contain harmful chemicals and exchange them for modern digital thermometers that are actually easier to use, more accurate and contain no chemicals. And it’s Free!
