Novato Sanitary District collaborates with neighboring agencies to sponsor and support a variety of innovative programs to help educate children about wastewater treatment and help individuals protect the environment.Free Mercury Thermometer Exchange ProgramWe provide free digital thermometers to replace old ones. It's free, just come to the District offices to receive exchange a thermometer 500 Davidson St., Novato. The intent of the program is to help prevent toxic waste that poses a threat to public health and the environment from entering the wastewater and storm water flows. The public is invited to bring old mercury thermometers that contain harmful chemicals and exchange them for modern digital thermometers that are actually easier to use, more accurate and contain no chemicals. Doug uses juggling, physical comedy, magic and audience participation to promote awareness of water as a precious resource. Students and teachers learn how to incorporate the concepts of water conservation and water pollution in their day to day activities. This is a FREE Recycling field trip and Household hazardous waste field trip. The four of the recycling center of Household hazardous waste facility is designed for students.
