COVID-19 UPDATE: Working to Keep You Safe

With the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, we want to update our customers on our services and reiterate that we remain focused on continuing to work every day and around the clock to safely protect and serve the public, our staff, and the environment.
- District services are running smoothly. Our staff are fully equipped and trained to comply with local, state, and federal safety and quality protocols for managing wastewater. Our wastewater collection and treatment, hazardous waste collection, and recycled water production systems continue to operate normally.
- Access to our public lobby and other wastewater facilities is limited only to essential service providers. However, we are open and will deliver services wherever possible by appointment (if required), but generally by telephone and digitally, until a more appropriate time. - All non-essential, meetings, inspections, site visits, etc. for District staff are cancelled or rescheduled until conditions change and they can be safely rescheduled.
- Our household hazardous waste (HHW) facility and Recology’s Recycling Center are closed due to the shelter-in-place order. Dumping any material at the Recycling Center or HHW facility when closed is unsanitary and illegal, and is being monitored by cameras and law enforcement. - Solid waste, recycling, and organics collection remain as scheduled. Our contracted, franchise waste management provider, Recology Sonoma-Marin, continues to provide household and business pickup services as usual. For more up-to-date information, please contact them at 1-800-243-0291 or visit the Recology website.
- If you have or see a sewer spill, overflow, or backup. If outside your home or business, please call (415) 892-1694 during business hours. After hours, please call Novato Police Department at (415) 897-1122. For backups and spills in your home or business, call a plumber and do not run water or any appliance that uses water until the problem is cleared. It is important to disinfect the area during cleanup.
The District will continue to coordinate its response with local partner agencies, the City of Novato, Marin County Health and Human Services, and the State Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) through the California Utilities Emergency Association (CUEA).
