The Novato Streetscape Committee would like to extend a big "thank you" to the many, dedicated volunteers who participated in Novato's 16th annual Clean & Green Day on April 20, as well to Bank of Marin, Whole Foods, Novato Sanitary District, Pini Hardware, Novato Builders Supply, Home Ground Habitat Nursery, Redwood Bagel and Pulger's Plants for their support.
We also appreciated 20/20 Optical allowing a display at San Marin Plaza and Keikhofer Corp. for a display at Pacheco Plaza.
Groups, organizations, families and many, many individuals collected almost a ton of litter, debris and weeds from schools, creek banks, parks and roadways.
We estimate about 20 miles of roadways, a marsh, a pond, median islands and six parks were cleaned.
Olive School had a beautification project, as well as a clean-up, provided by Cub Scout Pack 75.
As always, the city's Maintenance Division provided staff and vehicles to collect the bags of litter and other debris for proper disposal. The crew was efficient and busy well into the afternoon.
Our gratitude goes out to the volunteers, supporters and staff for their efforts during this event, and our ongoing appreciation for our volunteers who tirelessly adopt medians and conduct litter clean-up throughout our city and for continuing to keep Novato clean and green.
